Lumibook Foldable Table Lamp

The Lumibook Table Lamp from Delva Home is a book until you open it. Fan the wooden covers apart and the paper leaves spread into a glowing cylinder; fold it flat and it slides onto a shelf beside actual books. The full 360 degree hinge means you can set it as a half-open crescent on a bedside table or a complete ring in the middle of a dinner table.

Three light modes, warm, cool and natural, cover reading, ambience and working, and the built-in battery runs up to eight hours on a charge, so it can move from a desk to a balcony to a bedside without a cable. Charging is over the included USB lead. Because the whole lamp folds flat and weighs very little, it also travels well.

Three sizes are available: small at 10 by 8 cm, medium at 15 by 11 cm and large at 22 by 17 cm, all just 2.5 cm thick when closed. The covers are wood and the leaves are a tear-resistant paper made for repeated folding. Fold and unfold from the covers rather than the pages, and keep it dry, since paper and water do not mix.
