Nordic Beam Wall Light

The Nordic Beam Wall Light from Delva Home puts a matte-painted iron shade on a solid wood base, 23 cm high with a 15 cm shade. The two materials are the whole design: the iron keeps the shape crisp, and the timber stops it reading as cold.

The shade directs light downward and forward, covering three to five square metres, which is the right scale for a bedside, a reading corner or a stretch of hallway rather than a whole room. Hung in a pair either side of a bed it replaces two table lamps and frees the nightstands entirely.

It takes an E27 bulb, not included, so you can set the brightness and warmth. Black and white finishes are available, both with the timber base left visible. It runs on AC 220 to 240V and is hardwired. Have it installed by a qualified electrician where local rules require it.
