Gold Up and Down Wall Light

The Gold Up and Down Wall Light from Delva Home is a narrow hourglass column in brushed aluminium, throwing two beams, one up the wall and one down, from a body only 6 cm deep. The result is a pair of soft triangles of light on the wall rather than a lit shade, which is what makes it read as architectural rather than decorative.

Three lengths are available: 16, 24 and 35 cm, covering everything from a single accent beside a door to a run along a hallway or a stairwell. Each covers roughly five to ten square metres, and warm white at 3000K or cool white at 6000K lets you set the character. A knob switch handles on and off.

IP66 is the detail worth noting: it is fully weatherproof, so the same fixture works on an exterior wall, a patio or a bathroom as well as in a bedroom or a corridor. Aluminium resists corrosion, the PMMA diffuser keeps light transmission high, and the LED is integrated, so there are no bulbs. Have it installed by a qualified electrician where local rules require it.
