Wood and Metal Wall Lamp

The Wood and Metal Wall Lamp from Delva Home sets a matte metal shade on a smooth timber backplate, a small combination that does a lot of work: the metal keeps the form crisp and the wood stops it feeling cold. At 15 cm across and 19 cm high it is a compact fixture, sized for a bedside or a narrow hallway.

Because the shade points light down and forward rather than out into the room, it works as a reading light beside a bed without lighting the whole room and waking anyone else. It covers about three to six square metres, which is the right scale for a bedside, a reading corner or a booth in a cafe.

It takes a single E27 bulb, not included, up to 60W, and runs on AC 85 to 265V. At around 400 g it is light enough to mount into plasterboard with the right fixing. Black and white finishes are available, both with the natural timber left visible. Have it installed by a qualified electrician where local rules require it.
